The first step in opening a credit union account

Every credit union has a ‘common bond’ – which simply means that each credit union serves the people living or working in its local area. Our Common Bond centers on Letterkenny but extends to Ramelton, Churchill, Kilmacrennan and Manorcunningham (Corkey).

What do I need to open a credit union account?

There are a few documents you will need to open your credit union account. The following documents are needed to open a credit union account.

  • One current, valid form of ID, such as a passport or driver’s licence.
  • One document which is proof of address, such as a utility bill, or a bank statement dated within the past six months.
  • One document which is proof of your PPS number, such as a medical card, letter from Revenue or Social Welfare, payslip or P60.

Once your account is open, you can apply for a loan straight away.
