Summary of the Role: The purpose of this position is to support the Credit Union main service and operating functions including Finance, Lending and Credit Control. The role will be suitable for a candidate who has experience in financial services and/or accounting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide information services to members by phone, email and online. Respond to all incoming enquiries and proactively support members in all areas at all times providing excellent member service by phone and online.
  • Process external payroll deductions, direct debits, standing orders, eft’s and amend mandates.
  • Assist in the month end accounting procedure and accounts preparation.
  • Accurately and diligently process member transactions, balances and account for any inconsistencies.
  • Ensure compliance with existing and new systems & controls, and policies & procedures necessary, as outlined by the Risk, Compliance, MLRO & DPO, the Internal Audit Function and Management.
  • Undertake relevant training to develop excellence in dealing with member queries to the highest levels of service across diverse areas such as Membership, Lending, current account administration and Credit Control while advising of credit union products & services.
  • Look after aspects of membership administration, including the perfection of data security; ensure safekeeping of applications and other supporting documentation; implement the credit union’s practices regarding filing, scanning and destruction of documents.
  • Provide cover for other key areas within member service operations to ensure key person cover is in place for all functions.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of services for members and to the development of the team by providing suggestions, ideas and opinions to the Management in a timely manner.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Level 7 degree or equivalent qualification relevant to Accounting or Financial services.
  • Experience in financial services will be advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • ICT literacy and high proficiency in Microsoft Applications and Sage Accounting
  • Proven ability to work off own initiative to deliver agreed targets.

Experience in the credit union or financial services sector is desirable but not essential.
